In his much-discussed book Dream Hoarders, Richard V. Reeves asserts that the most important gap in America is between the top 20% (not just the 1%) and everyone else. Is the upper middle class hoarding the American dream? Graduate Center professors and scholars from the GC’s Stone Center—Janet Gornick, Paul Krugman, and Leslie McCall—take a critical look at Reeves’ conclusions in conversation with the author, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. They will be joined by Miles Corak from the University of Ottawa, who, in January, will become a professor in the GC Economics Program and a senior scholar in the Stone Center.
Presented with the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality.
