In a new Salon.com feature, Professor Corey Robin (GC/Brooklyn, Political Science) interviews Brooklyn College’s Moustafa Bayoumi about the profound changes ushered in by the “War on Terror” — legal, political, and cultural.

“Take myself as an example,” says Bayoumi, author of the recently published This Muslim American Life. “I have nothing to do with terrorism. Nobody I know has anything to do with terrorism. And yet, all Muslim life in America is seen through the lens of terrorism. So either you are a victim of this war or you are villain who is responsible for it.”

The conversation also touches on the “intertwining” of Muslim and African Americans, as well as how political jockeying impact Muslims and Arabs in the United States, among other topics.

Robin is a political theorist and author of multiple books, including The Reactionary Mind: Conservatism from Edmund Burke to Sarah Palin(2013). He is currently writing a book about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
